In view of the recent widespread publicity about the financial and political situation in Greece, we would like to reassure our clients and intending clients that we are in constant touch with our staff in the resort areas of mainland Greece and the Greek Islands that we feature and they are untouched by the events we read and hear about in the media. Life goes on and visitors to the resorts in Greece we feature can be assured of the same warm welcome that the Greek people traditionally give visitors, and that they will be able to complete their holidays with no difficulty whatsoever.

Although we do not anticipate any dramatic change to Greece's membership of the Euro zone, much less the EU during summer 2012, please be assured that even if events move more quickly than we anticipate, we believe that any change will only be to the financial benefit of visitors to Greece from the UK. Whatever happens, our trained staff are present in all the resort areas we feature and, unless you have booked a holiday without Representative service (please refer to your documentation) will be on hand to provide any advice or assistance you may need.

Following are a few "frequently asked questions" which we have put together based on enquiries we have received and we hope the answers will assist you. We repeat, there is no need for anyone not to book a holiday to Greece and Olympic Holidays with its ATOL and ABTA membership, together with its local contacts and resources gives you the assurance that you need:

• I am alarmed at the reports in the media about the financial and political situation in Greece. Is there any reason why I should not go on holiday to Greece until things quieten down and stabilise?
  Some of the media reports are very sensationalised. Life in the Greek Islands and mainland resort areas goes on as it always has and visitors will notice nothing different. There is no reason at all not to take a holiday to Greece – and every reason why you should. The weakening of the Euro means that your money will go a lot further and because of Greece's dependence on tourism you can look forward to the same warm welcome as always.
  
  
• Will all facilities at our hotel/accommodation be open?
  All facilities in hotels are as advertised at the time of booking, should any facilities be unavailable we will let you know before your departure.
  
  
• Will resort amenities be open?
  
  Local restaurants and resort amenities are operating as normal and local business owners continue to operate as normal. We are in contact with our resort staff on a daily basis.
  
  
• What happens if the currency changes from Euro to Drachma?
  This would be a gradual transition and would not happen overnight. If this does happen it is very likely that holidaymakers would benefit and get far more for their money. We believe that it is very unlikely to affect holidaymakers during summer 2012
  
  
• Will we be able to take money out of local cash machines?
  Cash machines and banks in the busy resorts are operating as normal; as in any busy town, there are a variety of banks to choose from in most resorts as well as privately owned bureaux de change.
  
  
• Will the local transport network be affected?
  Public transport and taxis are operating as normal, but in any case, all of our transfers and the excursions we offer in resort are organised through private companies which do not strike.
